AdoptOntario™ is a not-for-profit service operated by the Adoption Council of Ontario and financially supported by the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
AdoptOntario connects families and waiting children in a number of ways including:
- Families can register to view our online photolisting of waiting children;
- Families can complete an online profile to provide adoption workers for waiting children with more information about their adoption interest; and
- Families can learn about the specific special needs for care that a waiting child may have, and about resources a family may need or have access to in caring for a waiting child.
Who is AdoptOntario for?
AdoptOntario™ is for families interested in adoption – whether approved for adoption, in the process of being assessed, or making initial inquiries about the process. We support the connection between families, and children waiting in Ontario’s foster care system for a permanent family, using technology, clinical support and cooperation with adoption workers in our province’s public and private adoption systems.
How do I get started with AdoptOntario?
By creating a profile on AdoptOntario.ca you will be able to browse the photolisting to see and read about children waiting for adoption. Further, if you fill out information about the type of child you are hoping to adopt and elect to be added to the potential prospective parent resource database, you will be available for both automatic and manual matching, which may result in you being contacted when a new child who would be a good fit for your family becomes eligible for adoption.
